Governor ShapiroEven at this early date, the 2028 race for the office of President is beginning to accelerate. Presidential hopefuls are attempting to garner public support for their candidacy by trying to establish as much public support as possible. One such hopeful is Josh Shapiro, the current governor of Pennsylvania.  Shapiro is one of the favorites because of his seemingly center left positions. This is where The Great Shapiro Con Job begins.

Governor Shapiro has one very unique quality that makes him stand out from many of the other presidential hopefuls, and that is his ability to make himself appear as a centrist. Unlike, Governor Newsom, Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who all clearly stand out as very far left Democrats, Shapiro stands alone as being considered centrist. This is the farthest away from the truth. Governor Shapiro has nurtured his persona that has done an incredible job of hiding his true political position.

How has he been able to do this? Well, his positioning has been one of his trademarks from the very beginning of his political career. When he makes a speech or is on television, he carefully makes sure that the only items he discusses are those of the radical far left Democrats. You will very, very rarely hear him even mention any of the concerns of his opposition. Pennsylvania is a swing state because it is split fairly even between Democrats and Republicans and Governor Shapiro has done a great job of ignoring 50% of the population.

In Pennsylvania, the state’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30, and the budget is constitutionally required to be passed and signed into law by June 30 each year. That June 30 deadline is set by the Pennsylvania Constitution as the date by which lawmakers and the governor must complete the budget process for the coming fiscal year. In 2025, the budget was not approved until November 12th. See Governor Shapiro and his Democrat party members don’t really care about what the Pennsylvania constitution requires, it’s all about their far left agenda.

The delay in producing a budget was a fight over public transit systems, specifically in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Philadelphia by itself was facing a $400 million shortfall. The Republicans refused to approve the spending of that money based on the fact that the budget was already spending more than tax revenues would bring in. Governor Shapiro continually talked about the importance to coming up with a way to fund the transit systems on a yearly basis with automatic increases. This was the one bridge Republicans wouldn’t cross.

Governor Shapiro always made it seems that he was in the middle of this issue, when in fact he was the one refusing to concede anything. During the debate about the funding, he continually attempted to make the point of with the funding there would be massive layoffs of workers, routes that would be cut and fares that would have to be raised. He framed these issues around the poor and elderly that use the transit systems. After the lengthy debate, the issue was settled by removing monies from other transit funding accounts.

All those dire predictions Shapiro made were gone, but immediately after the budget was accepted, low and behold, not one fare was raised. Not one job was cut. In fact, within weeks after the acceptance of the new budget spending amounts, the Philadelphia transit system signed a new 3 year union contract that gave employees a 12% wage increase and management too saw their wages increased. Yet, Governor Shapiro never said a word again about those actions.

Well, it’s now 2026 and the budget process is again beginning, with Governor Shapiro presenting a budget that is once again spending more money than will be taken in. The man has never once introduced a budget that was balanced and fully funded. Is this the kind of President we would want? He is able to look directly into the cameras and tell stories about why he is asking for these increases, without ever saying he is willing to cut spending in other areas. He will not address the concerns of 50% of the population. Electing him is voting for a man who will ignore people completely and that’s the basis of his con job.
